Tiddy Munn
Etching on Paper, framed, 43 x 33cm (image 18 x 28 cm)
The Tiddy Munn is inspired by a folk tale of the same name. The Tiddy Munn is a small nature spirit who lives in the watery places. He would always take care of the people of the Fens. You knew when he was near because you could hear the rushing of water and the cry of the Peewit (Lapwing). When the waters came too high they would call to him “Tiddy Munn, without a name, the water’s thruff” and if they heard the cry of the Peewit they would know they had been heard and the waters would recede.
